What are drilling rigs?
A drilling rig is a machine that creates holes, usually called boreholes, and/or shafts in the ground. Drilling rigs can be massive structures housing the equipment used to drill water wells, oil wells, or natural gas extraction wells. They can also be small enough, so that they can manually be moved by one person. They can be mobile equipment assembled on trucks, tracks or trailers, or more permanent land or marine-based structures.
